The Wildest Dream is an upcoming movie about Mallory and Irvine's disappearance on Mt. Everest in 1924. One would think that the mountain featured prominently on the website would be Mt. Everest, but it sure does not look like Mt. Everest. What is it? It looks like something in the Mont Blanc Massif, but I can't place it.

maybe it's from a part where he's training for the big climb. or the producer doesn't know shit about climbing/mountains and doesn't care.

Maybe it's a minor peak with the rest of the mountain foreshortened behind it?

The rocky peak on the left looks like a reversed image of the NE side of Mt Blanc du Tacul. I think the snowy V down to the left of the summit is the top of the Gervasutti Couloir.

The small sharp peak in the middle looks like the Aguille du Midi. The snowier peak on the right looks like the slopes up to MtBdT and Mont Blanc.

So I guess they've taken the view from the NE of the Midi and MBdT then overlaid a reversed image of the NE face of the Tacul in front of it and put it all together.

Which also happens to be one of the most accessible areas of the Alps to get a film crew.

I've just read a book from one of my favorite authors Jeffery Archer about Mallory and Irvine, 'Paths of Glory'. It was a good read. Hopefully 'The Wildest Dream' is good as well.

Well, in all likelihood its the fault of the web developer...doesn't necessarily reflect on the film itself.

You can be pretty sure there's no 'fault' involved on anyone's part. It has nothing to do with accuracy, it's just an image to convey a sense of the story. They just played with images to see what looked good for what they want, using what they had. Probably similar imagery is in the film too, given Mallory's climbs in the Alps.

You just have to look at it through the eyes of a designer and marketer. 99% of the population would neither know nor care what mountain it is. And assuming the film covers some of Mallory's earlier climbs in the Alps, who said it had to be Everest?

- Much of TTV was filmed above Chamonix, plus some in the actual valley beneath Siula
- Vertical Limit was filmed in NZ, lots of shots of Mt Cook and peaks near the Tasman
- K2 (Michael Biehn etc) was filmed on Waddington
- Cliffhanger was supposed to be 'the Rockies' but was filmed in the Dolomites

There's been more than a few mountain "storms" generated by the director screaming to rev up the nearby helicopter

The topo map uses 10 foot contours and even then they are spaced pretty far apart.
