replacement bails for Grivel G 14s

by MichaelJ » Fri Dec 11, 2009 8:36 pm

Busted a bail leading a mixed pitch. Was able to borrow a BD one from another climber in El Chaten that we made fit with an ice hammer but I have to give it back to him when he leaves town. Anyone know if you can buy replacement bails in the U.S.?

Call The Mountaineer.

If they don't have them (which would surprise me), they can prolly point you to where you can get 'em.

Please report back what you find out - I had no luck getting new bails since Grivel has gotten scarce in the US, but I may not have made the right calls or sent the right emails. Good luck!

Another temporary option in case the grivel search turns up empty -- CAMP toebails will fit on the G14 (I experimented with this last season) -

But they will shift your boots forward -- may end up having to readjust the length and/or bail position.
