can you trek everest right now?

my sister is with some people who claim their friends are climbing everest right now.

I just thought if some expedition was on everest right now it would be in the press, because it is pretty harsh right now correct?

Maybe they are just chillen at base camp. A lot of people do that.

Everest is at about 28 degrees north latitude, so it's not even in the tropics.

Sure, it's possible in winter, but it has been done by only a short list of people.

My boss is over there right now, but he's gone for six months so I suspect the actual trekking won't start until March or so.

mounteverest.net normally has a fairly good handle on any winter 8,000 m expeditions.

Yeah, it's been done, and it's possible. So unless you're sister's friends are world class climbers, I think they're stretching the truth a little.

i am sure they are not climbing right now. They might be trekking. No way are they climbing.
