Time for a winter thread I think.

Looks like tomorrow morning's weather will be the mild part of the weekend. Anyone want to get out? Mountaineering? Anyone want to take a newbie ice climbing (I have all my own gear but I've never used it. Looking for some mentoring in that regard. Any takers?)

I'll be in the Wasatch from Dec 23rd to Jan 3rd looking to get out anywhere along the Wasatch. I have some ambitious climbs planned, but if avvy conditions are bad, I'd even be up for checking out the front peaks of Timp, Cascade/Provo, or Mt Nebo Massifs or the foothill peaks above downtown SLC and Bountiful.

I'll post more later, but let me know if you're interested in getting out on these!

14 for me. 2010 is sure to have more. Especially if WasatchVoyage lets me in on some of his trips.

Oh and in case anyone is curious, I did go ice climbing a few weeks back. Thanks to Marauders for taking me down to Stairway to Heaven. It was awesome, and I'm definitely looking to go again. I'm interested in hitting Joes Valley this season. I'm pretty confident I can TR WI3-4. The idea of muti-pitch doesn't scare me either.

I climbed Santaquin Peak on Saturday. It was my first time on anything between Provo Peak and Nebo. Good strenuous outing and awesome views and scenery.

Did the Tri Canyon Ski Tour today. Skied Holy Toleto and Little Water Peak in perfect powder conditions and skied away some good photos too. This picture is of my buddy Ron petting the dog in Little Water Gulch just before sunset.

Nice pics! We had a great day on Monday on Chipman Peak. The slog was more difficult than expected, but still a blast.

I never grow tired of your pictures. I really like the one of the two hikers making there way to the top with Box Elder and Timp in the back ground. I hope to read you trip report soon. You always do amazing stuff! I haven't been out once this winter.

Christine forgot to mention the date, it's this Saturday, Jan 9. We are leaving from the School House Springs TH in Alpine at 7. Dave and I are definitely going and hopefully Christine too. Everyone is welcome to join us, not just Ammon.

Expect it to take at least 9 hours round trip, but hopefully under 10.

Got a few planned, need to get these Cohp peaks done. One is Gilbert, thinking about busting that one and a few others in the area in a day this summer. Also need to get Signal Peak done and a couple others, then Utah will be completed. Done Gilbert yet?

Gilbert and Gunsight are definitely doable in a day, perhaps with a few more added on top. I'd be into that.

By the way, for anyone who is interested, my Ecuador trip is going well. I climbed Iliniza Norte and Cotopaxi, as well as a 3897M acclimation peak. I don't think my body is wanting me to do anymore climbing though, but I still call this a success.

This Saturday a group of us will be heading up Lone Peak. If anybody would like to join us, you are more than welcome to come. We will be meeting at the Orson Smith trail head and leaving at 6:00.
