New Marmot Temp Ratings

by Autoxfil » Tue Feb 16, 2010 1:24 am

The 2010 models are out, and Marmot really brought their A-game! It would appear that when converting to ºF, Marmot still uses * 9/5 part, but their researchers have come up with a way to eliminate the +32. For example, the new ratings for the Helium:

* Comfort
-4.3F / -2.4C
* Lower Limit
-15.7F / -8.7C
* Extreme
-48.6F / -27C

Forget Western Mountaineering and Feathered Friends - I'm getting a Helium! Under 2lb for a -15 ºF degree bag is really earth-shaking.

Unfortunately, if you take it to Canada or Europe you will find the bag not nearly as warm. Be careful if you're exploring the Rockies in northern Montana - cross the border by accident and you could be in for a very cold night!

are you referring to the php mess on their website currently? I'm not seeing the actual ratings anywhere on their website other than where it says 15F/-9.4C

<?php
$url = k2taxonomy_menu_get_url();
$node = null;

if(!empty($url->nid)) {
$node = node_load($url->nid);
}

$style_name = $node->style_name;

if(!empty($node->data->ent_rating_array['Comfort'])) {
$comfort = $node->data->ent_rating_array['Comfort'];

$f_comfort = _format_temperature(
pdappproduct_convert_units(
$node->data->ent_rating_array['Comfort'], 'celsius', 'fahrenheit'
)
);
}

if(!empty($node->data->ent_rating_array['Lower Limit'])) {
$lower_limit = $node->data->ent_rating_array['Lower Limit'];

$f_lower_limit = _format_temperature(
pdappproduct_convert_units(
$node->data->ent_rating_array['Lower Limit'], 'celsius', 'fahrenheit'
)
);
}

if(!empty($node->data->ent_rating_array['Extreme'])) {
$extreme = $node->data->ent_rating_array['Extreme'];

$f_extreme = _format_temperature(
pdappproduct_convert_units(
$node->data->ent_rating_array['Extreme'], 'celsius', 'fahrenheit'
)
);
}

if(!empty($comfort)) {
print ''.$comfort.'';
print ''.$lower_limit.'';
print ''.$extreme.'';
print ''.$f_comfort.'';
print ''.$f_lower_limit.'';
print ''.$f_extreme.'';
print ''.$style_name.'';
}

?>

Ha! It's been broke for weeks, and they fixed it last night. Each individual bag has the EN ratings on the individual product page, excepting non-EN bags like the CWM.

Bad timing, or a Marmot employee on SP?
