Front Range ski tours

by CharlesD » Sat Feb 20, 2010 7:54 pm

I've done some of the standard Boulder-area ski tours (East Portal, Hessie, Brainard Lake, etc) and am looking for something a little new and different. Information is quite difficult to find. In particular, I'm looking for info on any of the following:

* Lawn Lake (RMNP) via Lawn Lake TH
* Wild Basin (RMNP) up to Ouzel Lake, Thunder Lake, etc.
* Mammoth Gulch (from Rollins Pass Rd) up to James Pk Lakes

Not necessarily looking for current conditions (though that would be great), but general skiability.

Thanks!

My 2 cents for you Charles. Personally, I don't ski the east side of RMNP because the snow conditions are rarely good (in my opinion) and the trails are narrow and steep in places. Don't tell anybody, but Cameron Pass has much better snow and most of the trails follow old jeep roads which aren't so narrow. Snowmobilers for the most part, have their own trails.

Love those old books!! Got some different ones but no time for pictures right now.
Hope you find some new places to go!
