I will be heading to the Salt Lake area the last week of April, and I am looking for some area climbing suggestions . I heard this was a low snow year so I am hoping that will give me more options.

Thanks Scott, that is a great page, I apologize for not providing more information. On this trip the participants will be limited to class 3, moderate snow.

We're getting hit hard with snow storms right now but things can change pretty quick in Utah.

If things shape up well over the next few weeks, Lone Peak via Big Willow is a great spring route. Or Pfiefferhorn from Red Pine. If it is ready by then the Uber-classic Wasatch spring climb is the Tanners Gulch Triple Traverse. Don't want to go up there if there's high avy danger though. If these places are too dangerous, peaks like Gobblers Knob or Mt. Raymond are great alternatives.

There is a lot of great climbing here, but this is a good starting point.

It all depends what you like. There will be plenty to do and choose from but sometimes early spring is the worst as far as I'm concerned for the largest peaks in the area. If it remains cold, skiing or shoeing will be great, it it's warm, south facing slopes and lower elevation stuff will be nice. Slogging and postholeling thru waist deep heavy wet snow is not my idea of fun. Regardless of the weather, Mt Olympus is always a classic as are several others.

Thanks Bignick! We really want to try to hit a few peaks, and if we need to snowshoe/crampon our way to the top, thats ok. We also don't mind driving a little to find some good areas.
