Well, it's done - the 2010 Tacoma is on order, so no Forester for me this time around.

I just couldn't give up my 4WD low.

I sure do love driving it in the snow! Less than 400 miles away from needing a new timing belt. How critical is it? Should I go to a dealer to have it done?

I just replaced the cabin air filter on my 2005 forester after ~50k miles .. lots of leaves, bugs and other filth in it  Dealer would have charged me $80 to do it, but I found the part & installation instructions on the web and did it myself in 15 minutes for about $20 (and I'm sure there are cheaper options).

I'm not sure what the recommended service interval is for these things .. annually ?

Just bought my second Subaru this morning. The last one was totalled in an accident a couple of weeks ago after only owning it for a year.

I was all ready to replace the cabin air filter on my 2003 outback... and the dealer insisted: I don't have one.

I love my subaru, the only complaint I have is that sleeping in it is super hard to manage since the seats don't fold down all the way...

In what kind? The seats fold flat in my outback wagon. It's a little short, but I sleep in it fairly often. If you're talking about the front seats, I see your point.

My back seats fold flat as well, I think I have to move my front seats up a little but it sleeps up to about 5'10 or so pretty well. I never even gave any thought to trying to sleep in the front, the back just seemed the most obvious choice to me.

its a '99 outback impreza sport... kinda small and yeah its the back seats that dont fold all the way flat, so if I am in my sleeping bag I slide all the way to the end of the car!

Every 15k miles according to the dealership. But I've been getting away with 20-30k (and I don't usually take it to the dealership) on my '06 Forester. 100k miles on it and still going strong.

Good to know, thanks. Works out to about annually for me :)

I read somewhere that the 2003 foresters have the cabin air filter housing and such, it's just that the actual filters were not installed until later models. Maybe it's the same with outbacks of that vintage too.

Rear seats in my forester fold down all the way. I slept in the back of mine a lot during the past climbing season.

I have an 2006 Forester. What do you do for iPod connectivity? FM connectors have never worked for me.

Anyone has any experience with this company http://www.jazzyengineering.com/product_info.php?products_id=47&osCsid=hs4p5mf9gj8m3g7cijchlt0jq2
