My wife wants to go on an adventure. Not climbing, but trekking, anyone know of organized trips for women only? North America preferred, but open to suggestions.

I've enjoyed a trip with California-based Call of the Wild: www.callwild.com. The trip leaders heading up our trip to the Sierra were top-notch.

I've gone on two trips with Adventures in Good Company (www.adventuresingoodcompany.com) but I'm afraid I cannot recommend them. Their planning is haphazard and they will chinz you if they get the chance.

Yup, payback's a bitch (though at least my wife isn't)

Just for laughs I googled this also. Is it just me or do women specific trips seem really expensive?

For me, the occasional traveler should never bypass one of the all-time classics. But that's just me. Everything you'd want from a great trip and at the end one of the seven wonders of the world.

Choose hikes with a maximum of 600-700 elevation difference for a start, with easy terrain. Choose a good weather window. The biggest mistake would be to discourage her from the start by sth too difficult.

She can hike, she's climbed Mt Washington in NH without any trouble.
