Any idea if the hourglass will remain in shape till about half of June? With the amount of snow there is, I'm guessing it should?

You can bet it will be solid till at least the end of June.

Looks like more snowfall next week above 10k for a 3-4 day period.

Just adds a little challenge to what will be a fabulous time.

Be safe..

Yeah we went back there last year at about the same time and started here. Road was mostly clear then but the gate was closed. So no big deal.
Yes should be a great time love the area (esp when there aren't skeeters). Will being going up the Hourglass and on to Dade. Looking forward to it... :D

In retrospect, the hardpack will actually cut down on the approach times.

Two years ago, I actually cut my approach time to the same locale ya'll are headed for, in order to solo the Petit Griffon, by almost an entire hour.

Have fun dude... the Hourglass will be in awesome shape early in the morning!!!!

Thanks again.
When out last year in May all but one of our party had snow shoes and he postholed to his waist all the way in, boy was that painful to watch him suffer. Hoping for firmer snow but will have snowshoes just in case this time around.

Love that shot by the way, once im climbing better again I would love th climb the Petit Griffon has a route thats 5.7ish right??

There is still lots of the white stuff above 10K' throughout the Eastside for sure.

Gonna definitely be a long snow season.

Yup, was just up that way. Although the road is open to the summer TH, the snow coverage is pretty widespread right from the parking lot. Although not needed, we had fun showshoeing anyhow :)
