Hey all. I'm fairly new to hiking (coming up on two years), but quickly came to love the mountains, especially the ADK High Peaks where I started. With that said, I have decided to try and do the Northeast 115. Just curious, for all you out there who have already completed this impressive task, about how long has it taken you to do so? Thanks for any info, happy trails!

Climbed North Maroon last summer with a Quebecois from Montreal, Jean Roy. He was in the middle of finishing all 58 CO 14ers in 58 days. He said he finished the Northeast 115 in about 3 months.

For the rest of us mere mortals...probably a little longer than that.

Those guys who do the speed thing must be wired a bit differently than me. I always try to enjoy the climb/hike - especially the difficult parts and the eventual success. Speed is not the issue for me - the journey is everything.

Of course, the speed guys might say "those who can, do". And, I know I couldn't do those 115 peaks in 3 months (even if I had no time/money issues). So, more power to them, I guess.

My free advice is this: do the peaks how you want to do them, as fast or as slow as you see fit. It is your own path that you are making.

(I am a little jealous in that I do not live in the northeast now, or I would be doing some of these myself!)

I would like to do them all someday, but I get distracted with bigger mountains. I would aim to do them all in the Winter as well. A lot more satisfying IMHO. Great job Catamount!

Just starting on them myself, last fall did the Catskills high peaks (slide/hunter), 3 years ago got lost going to spotted mountain in the dacks and ended up on east dix,

i woulf have to say it will take me probably 10 years to bag all the 115'ers,
i like to move slowish and enjoy the woods

Thanks everyone for the advice and info. From the sounds of things, I'm guessing it's gonna take between six and ten years lol. In addition to the "fast guys" topic, I don't know how many of you have climbed Blue Mountain in the dacks, but while not long and grueling it is a steep little bugger. Anyways, my partner and I keep a pretty steady and fast footed pace, making it to the summit in about an hour and twenty. Feeling good about the time, we headed down; only to meet a 60 something local who claimed to have a friend that made it to the top in 28 minutes haha.

anyways one other factor will be the driving time to all the peaks, and the overpriced gas, up to twenty a year is a reasonable speed factoring work and plans besides climbing less your one of them a.t. type who can drop 6 months of their life to hike

but ya, 20 amusing you bag 2-5 per trip and maybe overnight or take 3 -4 days per trip, unless you get your allans or you mt. isolation's, them are one and out peaks
