Great ice wall, Hamik, probably the first and last in the SGV. Looks like more fun than wrapping eggs in thick cotton and dropping them from buildings.

Were all counting on Caltech students to SAVE THE WORLD.

Hamik, real ice near Pasadena is possible. On certain years, when it's been really cold, you can ice climb the waterfall up near Baldy Ski hut. ..been there, done that.

OH and by the way... I'm sittin here looking at Snow in the San Gabe's this morning at about 5,000ft up the Big Tujunga, WTF!!!!

also, during certain years there are ice climbing opportunities in many areas of the San Gees

the best, and most reliable Crest Ice has been off limits for a while now. it seemed that every year there would be climbable ice at williamson. i would ski straight down into the ravine, then skin up to the lower trail head afterwards... even in low snow years [normal] there would be something to climb.

It's out there, just hafta want to find it.

those smears are fairly common in the crest during good conditions.

alder creek, below chileo, has some good flows worth climbing, every now and then...
