Wheeler Peak Scenic Road open to 10,000'.

Just a heads up to bc skiers......road is open to 10,000......upper campground is not yet plowed, but there is trailhead parking.......spent five days last week in the Wheeler - Jeff Davis cirque and (on top of 2 1/2 feet of new snow which fell during the week's storms) the skiing was/is outstanding.....
Last week the road was only open to the scenic overlook; which didn't do me any good, still had to start at 7,500....access is much easier now.....

Thanks for the information, I am sure the GBNP forest rangers are tired of me calling them all the time. Any idea on when the upper most campground will open? I understand that a permit is needed in select parts of the park.....is this true?

Upper campground should be plowed out by Memorial Day......Have never needed any "special" permits for any area of the Park, GBNP is much less restrictive than many National Parks.......
