Moab on memorial weekend-- free camping?

I'll be out at Moab for three nights, three days this coming weekend and I'd like to keep costs down
Are there free places to camp anywhere nearby?
Car camping or similar is preferred
20 miles outside of town is okay, but I don't have 4WD.

Yep, plenty of free camping around there. And you don't need to be 20 miles outside of town either. Or have a 4wd.
