I was skiing around the Budd Creek basin (below Echo Peaks) on Sunday. There is still a lot of snow above 9200' , and some impressive cornice avalanche debris in the bowl below the Cockscomb.

How is the trail to Glen Aulin? Anyone been around there?

Saw this posted on the yosemitenews forum. A friend hiked in that way this last friday.

I went up to Cathedral Pass to try the class 3 stuff on Echo Peaks. Had snowshoes on the whole way, and though it got pretty warm during the day, it dropped to 20, maybe lower according to the ranger, on Sat. night. The sun cups were a pain, even with snowshoes. As far as Echo Peak from the west, there was a rather steep snowfield at or on the talus fan (my first time there, so I'm going by what I've seen on this website). I was alone, and it was quite warm, so I assumed it might to unstable to forge through it. Cathedral Peak looked good above the tree-line. Too steep to hold any snow I guess.

The trailhead near the Lambert Dome looked remarkably clear of snow but there is no telling how swollen the stream crossings were. On 6.8.10 Toulomne Meadows was a lake and the campground down the road was under water.

Any update on the road to Saddlebag?

I said June 4... Missed it by 8 hours...

Just talked to someone at the Mono Basin visitor center -- Saddlebag Lake Road opened yesterday. He said it was still very muddy, no camping, but the trailhead parking area is open. He said the lake was still frozen over and trails snow-covered.

Here is a pic from a week ago of Saddlebag if folks interested. Some snow, but not much at lake level.
