Sorry for the lack of any definitive news, but I'm posting after a few minutes of detective work and deductive reasoning.

My phone just rang with a satellite phone calling in, but I couldn't hear anyone on the other line and then it went dead.

After waiting for a few minutes, I checked our online voicemail box that they have been calling podcasts into and found the following message. If you listen carefully, you'll hear other voices in the background, and Bill sure sounds pretty happy. I'm going to assume that the team is on the summit of Mount Everest!!!!!

For me, for one. Hi everyone, especially those of you that I have meet on Baldy. I will get back to climbing locally soon. I lost 10% of my weight on Everest and I am slowly getting my muscles back: took a little work-out vacation after that summit. Wow, summit day alone was 18.5 hrs because of the crowds. This year there were only a few days (I think 3) where it was safe (as safe as Everest can be - considering you are in the death zone) so everyone had to go.

It seems as if there are a lot of people on Everest who don't care about the risk of dieing anymore due to having a disease of some sort, being old, or other reasons which makes them not really care about risks..

A summit is only a summit: even if it is the highest one. I was not going to risk my life or anyone else's. There was no doubt is my mind that I would turn around if need be, aside from an accident, I was going home and with all of my body parts. Also, I had been working with Dr. Peter Hackett for the past year on the aspects of me climbing. It was great that he was staffing the Everest ER while I was there! More on this later.

Age:
I was almost 51 and a half the day I summited (the half counts ). Regardless of my age, I felt very strong.

The Chief said this about the picture of the Lhose Face on page one:

Exactly Chief! That is why we turned back and waited for the next day.

Glad you made it back safetly and I am assuming in one piece with all toes and fingers.

I do have to say that I am with Chief on this one. I totally dislike the vibe that is in the various camps on the Big 3. I totally lost all taste for any of the Big 3, though I love the country and people of Nepal. Now the smaller stuff that no one has heard of is a different story.....there are plenty of things in Nepal, the Karakorum and in South America that no one ever hear of that are far more beautiful and enticing For me in the next 5 years I'd like to go back to these two....

Awesome - 1st time I've seen a new member post a portrait of themselves in Everest before. Congratulations and best wishes!

I may be back on Baldy in a week or so. My hubby will be climbing it early tomorrow. So, if you are on the mountain early in the morning and see a 65-year old man with a full head of white hair stop and ask him if he is Larry.

He is a great husband to have given up everything and become my training partner. Then he give up his wife while she left to spend two months and a lot of money to follow her dream.
