North Cascades Conditions?

by KurdishKlimber » Fri Jul 09, 2010 6:10 am

Hi all,
I will be spending a week in the North Cascades area, hoping to climb Baker's NR or Colman HW, Forbidden and Shuksan. I would appreciate info about the following:

1 - Are the Baker routes in good shape?
2 - How has the recent heat wave affected the snow/ice routes?
3 - What are the conditions on shuksan's NF?

Thanks in advace,

Farzin

I was on Sahale a few days back. There's certainly a lot of snow covering the climber's trail. The plus side, we managed to make it to top of Sahale - because the snow completely covered the rocks - almost to the top.

Wow - lots of snow is covering most trails. Gernally below 4,000 ft, the trails are snow-free.

Most of climbers on Mt. Baker have said the conditions last week were "stellar".

Conditions on the 21st were great but on the 22nd they were horrible on Baker... I would not go on something as committing as the North Ridge in those conditions. Josh was camping legally on this trip
