A while back, I added the Mount Hood Current Conditions Page
as a Custom Object. I notice a lot of people asking about current conditions on routes (usually South Side) in threads and I myself wonder about it every time I climb. I put together the page to provide links/resources to help and also have a section to be used for people to add their information/observations from their climbs so people know what current conditions are.
I guess I thought this being on the What's New Page for so long and the fact that there is a link to this on the main Mt. Hood page in the Mountain Conditions section would make it pretty obvious but it seems that only a small number of people are contributing their info (only one person actually contributed information, the rest I had to email people about or pull from other sources). Granted, I did not advertise this much as well. So, I have been monitoring Forum Threads, Summitlogs, other websites and this page to add info but it gets pretty difficult for me to go through everything myself, I think this is only going to work (at least the climbers' observation section) if people contribute. If no one really wants to, no problem, I can just phase that section out of the page. But I think actual information from people who have been up there currently/recently is the best source of info available.
So, please check it out, let others know if you like and put your comments in the corresponding link depending on route climbed, or, if people think this is still a good idea and if anyone has any suggestions on how to get this more apparent/noticeable, please let me know.
Thanks, happy climbing!
