Nothing beats a tuna sandwhich, I learned accidently. It really hits the spot for some reason.

Twizzlers are awesome because they have more carbs than any other candy I know.

Gu works, don't knock it. The texture is gross.

On a 5 day outback trip, I brought a red bell pepper. The thing held up; I was surprised. When I crunched into it, all eyes were staring.....hard.

When I bring sour patch kids, I suddenly become very popular.

Dry carbohydrates work out to ~100-110 kcal/oz, 4 kcal/g. You can't do much better than that. Some use maltodextrin with varied degrees of polymerization, so the blood uptake is gradual.

For the life of me, I've never really noticed much difference among carbohydrate sources. I do know this: if you can't stomach eating it, food will do you no good.

Ok. Yes.

I guess what I mean is, if you walk down the candy isle and have 30 seconds to grab any package of candy, (because your friends are outside waiting patiently in their cycling togs).....get the twizzlers. Most carbs for the buck $.

Take a plastic jar of Trader Joe's natural chunky peanut butter about 2/3's full, then top it off some raw local honey and stir well. Eat it out of the jar or spread it on WASA style crackers or pumpernickel bread. This will keep you going for hours.
