When (and how) to upload images for trip report

by goskimike » Thu Aug 26, 2010 12:46 am

I get adding the text; does the trip report have to be created before you can upload images and get image #s to add to (or edit) the text? Because I can't insert an image while I'm adding text.

Thanks

No.

You're welcome.

The images have to exist before you can incorporate them into the TR. Specifically, if you're using SP's image insertion tool, they have to have been uploaded to SP so they have an SP image ID.

So you have the following events, and a partial ordering:

A. create the SP page to hold the trip report

B. Write the text of the trip report onto the trip report page

C. upload the photos to SP (not nec. as children of the TR; you could upload them to a Mountain, Range, or Route page, or as parentless pages)

D. incorporate the photos into the trip report.

A has to precede D, and C has to precede D, but the rest is up to you. You'll probably want B to precede D or at least occur together, so you have a feel for where the photos will fit alongside the text. And it's often convenient to attach the photos to the trip report as you upload them, in which case A precedes C. So my usual order is ABCD or ACBD.
