Originally was going to do MSH, but after seeing the pics of NCNP, decided to head there. Am coming with people who like to fish, but will hike a little. On Friday we will do Cascade Pass/Sahale Arm. Saturday they will fish and I can do what I want. Need suggestions please--Up to 12 miles, 6k gain, scrambling, etc. I have a Trails Illustrated NCNP map. Shuksan looks multi-Day. Goode looks multi-Day. Am looking for maybe a peak, but not necessarily; scenery is the main thing, along with some fun scrambling.
Any thoughts? Many many thanks.
Not that I do very much of it, but solo in the Cascades doesn't seem very smart. I guess Beckey does it, but I am trained in safety, and ropes and all are a good thing to have and use, meaning a partner to do this with. I had an associate who did Shuksan and Baker both in two days, but he had his good buddy as partner along, btw.
I'd stick to trails, of which I know very little, up there. I think that the weather gets bad, too, now. If I were you, I'd continue to head for CA, it's more fun and safer. If you must do a Cascades peak, look into guides, it'll be worth it. I was once considering Desolation Peak, and another lo as a good hike to do, but it seemed too scary the way that I am now (aging). There are some trails to do up the Mt. Baker Highway, and some of them come close to the top of some peaks, but caution is advised to try to summit (up to cl. 5). My .02.
