Speaking of larches, anyone know what the larch is looking like up the Chiwawa area?

Man, you guys are lucky to be looking at all those Larches.

Here in central Arizona, the closest thing to a Larch is a cactus.

Carry on, men..

You have two weeks before they show some colors, three weeks until good color (Ocober 1st). Pyramid Peak up north of Entiat will be a prime spot by then!

Tangeman, I was just up at Spider Gap and Cloudy Pass and environs. The larches there still need a few weeks. There is just a hint of them turning at this point (Sept. 12).

There are some signs of fall but not with the magical larches. I got a couple good shots of vine maples as well as some smaller trees when I climbed Bill peak today. Here is how the album is going. I hope everyone contributes to this album. Last year we rocked and put many of the doubters to shame despite a poorer than average fall season.

Berry bushes have REALLY TAKEN OFF up in the North Cascades. Gimpilator catches them perfectly and the pictures are in the fall foilage album.

You will need two to three weeks before Snoqualmie Pass and Snow Lake will be in peak with the vine maples. Of course the weather has been a gully washer here.

Thanks all.
I was just up on Mission Ridge near Wenatchee, which isn't too far into the mountains but the vine maples and other small-brushy plants were in full color, the larch on the other hand were being hypocritical. :D Some were fully plugged in and turned on wheareas other hadn't even started. I also noticed for the first time how big the larch are around Clara Lake.

Klenke, Spider Gap is one of my favorite places in the range. It was also where, years ago, I took my first backpacking trip, and what really turned me on to hiking/climbing. Cool place. In fact my profile pic is at Larch Knob.

Awesome pictures Tangeman! I love Larch Knob myself. It is an awesome place to camp!! From what I seen, this weekend looks like it is going to rock for fall color in the higher mountains. If the weather will actually cooperate, Maud and Seven Fingered Jack, Carne Mountain, and Pyramid Mountain might be great places to check out.

The enchantments are prime right now. This weekend might just be the peak of the colors up there. I was there yesterday:

Nice photos and tr, there, Alisdair. Wish I could blow those up a little?

I was just up in Indian Heaven, S. Wa. last weekend. Magnificent colors in the meadows. Mesmerizing. A few Huckleberries as well.
Just beautiful up there.

Larch season has started. I also want to give many thanks to all of those who have submitted their September pictures to the Fall Colors in Washington State Album. This September we really nailed it with the color of the berry bushes. But October is when some of the best color comes out in the larches and later in the month the lower elevation decidious trees. Keep the pictures coming. The album really is showing how specail fall is in Washington.
