I have used the monsters for dry tooling (cragging only, no alpine climbing). I thought they worked well for the purpose (better even than the Petzl Ergos) and were cheap enough to buy soley for dry tooling to save the good tools for ice and alpine climbing.

I've got the Grivel Matrix Light's, which use Monster heads. They're pretty nice, real tough heads. Kinda a bitch to replace a head at first, since they "mushroom" the end of the bolts/screws to keep them from unscrewing.

Good picks to beat up, though. Not as sensitive on some water ice, but they rock on mixed.
