My album on Washington State this year clearly showed that there is some great color in the high country.
http://www.summitpost.org/album/653120/Fall-Colors-in-Washington-State-2010.html Carne Mountain and Mount Maude are higher mountains with great fall colors. The Okonogan Region is filled with wonderful larches. The berry bushes at 5000-6000 feet on the western side are also not to be missed. Bald Mountain by Mount Pilchuck was amazing last week. If you are really into harder stuff and want fall colors, Jack Mountain and Crater Mountain are great places to go when weather is good.
The best place for high peaks and great colors that I have been to so far (they are regionally famous), The Enchantments. Climb Dragontail or Colchuck in peak fall colors and your jaw will drop over the amazing eye candy. Both peaks are over 8700 feet!
