But you have always been a major trouble maker.

Me? I´m shocked!

Contrary to many others, I have so far appreciated the long serious explanations why Bob and dadndave do things. It calms feelings, and makes the thinking and rulings understandable. Transparancy. No Ivory Tower approach.
I think they must do it in their own way, the way they feel is right.

(The exception I don't like, is in my earlier post. If a post is deleted, it's unjudgable by the members and commenting it becomes one-sided and feels unfair.)
Age is a matter of mind and if you don´t mind it does not matter!

Q: How many suggestions does it take to improve SP moderation?

You can't see it, but she's holding hands with Fart Mental Patient.

Now that was pretty funny!

Bob Sihler wrote:I believe there is a little more to all this than just splitting threads.

Many members may not know it, but the elves have recently taken a much heavier hand concerning certain activities by certain people; anyone who wants the details can find a long post, with a link to an even longer post, in a sticky thread in Off-Route.

By choice, I have been the public face of a lot of this, though not all.

It has made me highly unpopular with some people, and it has cost me some friendships and strained some others. None of that makes me happy at all, but I knew it was going to be the cost of this. Accepting that was the hardest part, but after accepting it, it was easier to do what I felt was right for the vast majority of the membership here.

Also, SP has been through things like this before. Just last January, the person who started this thread tried to pressure Dave K into stepping down over the pulling of PnP (http://www.summitpost.org/phpBB3/what-happened-to-the-pnp-forums-t51220-105.html). And last year at about this time, a former member publicly called on Aaron Johnson to quit for allegedly tolerating and protecting a certain member who is still active here. That led to Aaron putting out a poll about whether he should stay or go, something I will not put myself through.

Cheers, everyone.

I haven't participated in the forums much in the past, and I haven't always agreed with your decisions, but I am glad you are the moderator here.
Hang in there Bob. You're doing a great job.

Cheers,
Marc

I don't know why people raised this thread (except if there are 2 Bobs Shiler and Sihler :) ), but when it comes about Bob being a good elve or not for taxonymy issues, purge and odd pages maintainances, he has proven to be a very patient and competent help. Thus despite he doesn't live in the continent from where most request were raised and subsequently helped well without knowing much the geography.
About forums, I wouldn't care about people's remarks. SP is all about mountains and pages about them. The forums are just wind, and there is too many crazy people in it to waste time...
Thanks Bob !

Say, I don't know much about all of what's being discussed here, but could we maybe have at least a correct spelling of Bob's family name? According to his profile, it's Sihler, not Shiler...or am I suffering of bad eye sight?
Bitte schön!!

Eric

I can't speak for the OP, but I believe the "misspelling" was intentional.

HEY Eric #2 ??? HOW is your eyesight NOW ???
