I'm waiting for Mel's trip report(s). He's not signed the climber's log fon either mountain's page. Whether he did, or did not, make it up Mammoth Mtn or Mt. Everest, I want to know all the details (doesn't everyone?).

C'mon Mel, give us the real 'first person' account of your epic adventures in California's Eastern Sierra Nevada Mtns and Nepal's Himilayas!

A long time ago a friend of mine gave me a newspaper comic (not the Far Side, but one kind of like it) and the caption said "the little known side of Everest" and the picture was of a mountain with a set of stairs to the summit. Anyhow, I dug thru the file cabinet but could not locate it, it would have been the perfect pic to add to this thread. Oh well.

I'm reminded of George Carlin's line:

"If people climb Mt. Everest because it's hard to do, why do they go up on the easy side?"
