I'm starting to look to replace a pair of Sportiva B5s that have served me well...and for some reason have been drawn to two different Salewa approach shoes.

I've found some pretty good reviews online (alpinist, backcountry, etc), but figured I'd press my luck to see if anyone else had any good/bad things to say. Also interested if anyone can provide a fit comparison...like whether or not they run big/small/narrow compared against La Sportiva. Some of the reviews mention it's narrow...but I'm on the narrow side of the shoe-world so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Kai - Thanks for the info! Any chance you have some info on the size delta from Sportiva to Salewa? Did you have to go up a half size, or same? Sorry...I'm looking at having to order/ship these and am hoping to get the sizing right the first time.

I need to check the shoes and see what sizes I wear. I will try to remember to do it tonight.

Sorry it took so long, I kept forgetting to check the shoe sizes.


My Salewa shoes are size 44.5 euro, size 11 US

My Sportivas are marked size 45 euro, not marked with a US size.

Even with the 1/2 size difference, the Sportivas fit a little more snug.
