Since we had a cold spring/summer last year, I'm going to guess a warm one this year will help melt the snow. June 17th.

Tioga will not open this year.
A huge El Nino will sweep the west coast in early June burying the pass for 6 months.

But they will plow the road and keep it open from Lee Vining to the pass so we can all play on the awesome slopes up there! :D

Meteorologists are good if they are accurate with a 3 day forecast, they are great if they hit a 7 day correctly. Why is it you can make this prediction? If you're correct, you might have found a new career.

This man from Arizona gives a "conservative figure" of June 20.

SP's Arizona threads snooze, but CA's RULES!

Com'on man! Every year someone puts up a forum post about when Tioga will open. I was just goofin' around. But if there are no more storms i predict June 11, Saturday.
Sonora is usually open a week or 2 earlier.

Does really it matter?

120 is currently clear from the gate to TPR and beyond to the Tioga Lake. The gate will open this weekend and then remain so for the "Opener". As long as I can access Saddlebag, the Lakes basin up high and fish, fish, fish, that is all that really matters....right!

Right!

No, it does not matter to me. Besides, I'm way off!

The lower Gate from the Lee Vining side should be officially opened tomorrow morning for the "Opener" on Saturday and the road clear to TPR and or beyond to Tioga Lake. I will confirm this morning how far the road has been plowed and opened to and then post it up.

UPDATE!

BAD NEWS!!!!!!!!

Just got off the phone with the LV Cal Trans dudes.

Lee Vining CAL TRANS road clearing crew ran into a major 30-40' high SNOW & ROCKSLIDE (over 1/3 of a mile in length) yesterday afternoon just above the Ellery Dam on 120. They now have to keep the lower gate closed and the eastside of 120 off limits until they clear that rockslide which may now take a week or longer to clear.
