Rab bought Integral Designs?

by blazin » Wed Apr 27, 2011 5:02 pm

I just sent Integral Designs customer service an email. I got a prompt and informative reply, as I expected. However, the signature block of the rep who responded astonished me:

[Name]
Customer Service
Rab USA, LLC
http://www.equipuk.com

Underneath that were three logos: Rab; Integral Designs; and PodSacs.

Going to the URL in the signature leads to this:

Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd specialise in design and marketing of
technical outdoor equipment. Our experienced and enthusiastic team
develop innovative designs, manufactured to the highest standard and
brought to market throughout the world.

Did anyone else know that ID had been bought out by the Brits? Did this happen a long time ago and I just missed? If it's recent, any thoughts on how it might affect products/service?

It was announced about a year ago that the transition would take place in 2011.

I've had my eye on the ID Thru-Hiker jacket for quite some time, it's made with eVent and gets good reviews. I had to wait until tax time to see weather I could justify buying one. It's not that I need another hard shell but wanted to see if it is as good as claimed. I almost waited to long. I wanted an XL in green and had to do some serious searching to find one. I received the ID Rain Jacket by mistake (it was returned and replaced with the Thru-Hiker) and can vouch that it too is a quality piece of kit if you like that style/feature set. So a word to anyone thinking about any ID products would be to buy now before they are no longer available. RAB seems decent enough but it isn't ID.

I think the "transition" that bluffview is talking about is actually about the manufacturing.

Equipuk took over the front office stuff in March of 2010, and have been transitioning the manufacturing out of the old integral factory since the acquisition happened in January of 2010.

So basically, yeah, old news.
