Japan climbing website

by atavist » Mon Mar 28, 2011 12:47 pm

Can anyone recommend a good site to find partners or general climbing info for Japan? I'm trying to climb Kita Dake this May 19-24. It's the highest peak in Japanese Alps, which supposedly features some long easy 5th class ridge routes to the summit.

I guess I'm a tad late, but I climbed Mt. Kita-dake just last week.

The Southern Japan Alps are awesome. More details on my climb, including pics, maps, and trail description are here: Mt. Notori-dake and the Shiranesanzan

Cheers,
Gary

Looks like a great trip. It's always nice to see some wildflowers and animals. Back in May, I was able to make the summit of Kitadake but no inspiring views of Fuji. Heck, I was lucky to see 100m. Poor weather conditions seems to be the theme for my climbing activity in 2011.

Cy, thanks for the links. I'm pretty sure it was because of your posts that I learned of the backlinks thru my web host.

Thanks, Pat. Yes, hiking in bad weather is a bummer. I see you're in Malaysia. One of my former Japanese coworkers climbed Mt. Kinabalu there several years ago. It's on my Bucket List... :-)
