I'm completely unfamiliar with the NE. I have plane tickets for Sept 10. I had hoped to attempt the NE state highpoints and finish my remaining 8 with Marcy on Sept 18.

Can anyone familiar with the area and the state highpoints there confirm that I can (or cannot) get to and climb/visit:
CT, MA, RI, NJ
Mt. Mansfield
Mt. Washington

The Baxter State Park website makes it sound like the trail from Roaring Brook to Katahdin is open. Does anyone have other/additional information?

I understand that the bridge is out over Marcy Dam and that there is a road closure to the Loj. I assume that's the road I would need to drive to get to the trailhead for the standard route to Marcy. What I've read through the other thread here is that trails in the general area are closed indefinitely and won't open for the holiday weekend. If I'm interpreting the information correctly, that doesn't mean they'll be open after the holiday weekend.

Can anyone tell me if there's a route to Marcy that doesn't involve the closed road(s)? Can you provide stats for distance/gain or send me a link to a route description for such an alternate? Can anyone update me after the Labor Day weekend as to when they expect to have access to the trails again? I need to decide by early next week if I need to cancel my flight/rental car/motels/etc. I appreciate any help.

Marcy is closed right now, but will probably be open by the 18th. You can start at John's Brook Lodge and avoid Marcy Dam.

Trail descriptions won't help you too much. Any trail in the eastern 'Dacks that follows a brook (e.g., Johns Brook) is likely to be a total mess for a while. Be prepared to navigate on your own.

Haven't heard anything specific about Greylock but there are multiple access routes, something will be open. News reports mention various problems but I don't see any road closures.

Mt Washington is open already.

In general terms the worst flood damage appears to be Eastern NY, Western MA, and most of VT. I'd expect challenges getting from point A to B in these locations and also for CT. Northern NJ has a lot of roads closed as well. RI, NH, and ME look to have escaped the worst of it. Monitor the local news outlets and wait as long as you can to make a go/no go decision.

My parents live about 2 miles from RI high point and they lost power for about a day and had some branches to clean up but that being said the hp is about 10 steps into forest from major road so you'll be fine there.

I got my DUPR for Katahdin on Oct 8 so let me know how it looks when your up there. Best of luck enjoy New England some if you can I love pretty much all of it

Thanks, everyone. It sounds pretty sobering. I'm not sure it makes sense to put the time and money into the trip for the rest of the peaks/points if there's not much chance of getting Marcy. I should probably cancel the trip and go another year.
