Greek Climbing Guidebooks/sites?

Postby Dan Shorb » Mon Sep 12, 2011 4:40 am

Looking for suggestions of where to look for info, guidebooks, (preferably in english). Kalymnos and Crete, seem popular. Although we are also contemplating strongly going to (and looking for any info (climbing or non-climbing)) on Lesvos, which seems a bit more off the beaten path.

I haven't heard anything about climbing in Lesvos.
A quick search shows that local adventure outfitters offer rock clibing courses, no info on routes/crags though

Thanks a lot Nikolas. I, also, only found the 'rock climbing course' info for Lesvos. Anyway, if we DO head there, we will have our gear there, even if we head to Kalymnos afterwards.

Also, Have you been to Kos? Seems super popular and perhaps too popular to be nice. There are some hotels there at which my folks can get a timeshare room for us.

If you don't mind, I may email you again on this topic, since you probably know more than most here. Thanks again.

Always a good idea, most islands have lots of rock, even those that don't have established routes have a lot of potential. E.g. I was in Ikaria in August, no established climbs but LOTS of granite boulders waiting to be climbed...

I haven't but I've heard good reviews. You can very easily combine it with Kalymnos
