I always thought a cookie was something that saves on your computer. I guess I learn something new all the time. :)

What? How does that work out. No matter what it should be stored onto summitpost's server. A network of users would never work unless you talking about a network that you upload onto. But isn't that similar to a database?

Are you serious, you type your TRs directly on SP? Why not use Word doc or type and email it to yourself for a backup?

I'm trying not to laugh here...Cookies hold a limited number of bytes, they aren't big enough to hold entire page edits. They have enough room for one or two sentences, really.

But suppose they did. And suppose you are very pleased that somehow your unsaved edits were "auto saved" for you on your own client. You come to rely on this, next time typing out a *12* page report without saving. Now you run CCleaner on your machine, thinking it's getting a little sluggish. Oh no! CCleaner deletes browser cookies! Oh no!

So how about hold off there before getting indignant that this "obvious" feature hasn't been implemented yet!

All kidding aside, I'm looking forward to your report, sounds like a good one :).

Dude, relax-- notice the winky thing.

When something isn't going to change for me, then I try to change what I do to deal with the issue. All I and others here are trying to do is point out that instead of complaining or holding your breath for changes that a lot of people would like to see, try a different approach so you won't have the same problem again.

Cheers.

I don't remember being negative, just more making fun of you a bit for harping on it so much.

However, I'll concede the point to you. If you thought I was negative about it, I apologize. And you were right that it's a better format.

I don't see why this cookie thing is more important than my request for blinking text. If we had blinking text, the forums would be much better.

Why can't you go for the same idea as the login code but with an autosafe drafts function?

Why can't you go for simply writing the page in word before just cutting and pasting? It also has the advantage of spell check.

I entered pages directly a few times when I was new, but not doing it is word first is simply silly and a bad way of doing things.

Heed the words of Bob and drink your medicene like the rest of us do. Type it in Word, Notepad, GMail, Excel, OneNote, PDF, WordPad, CellFrame, Lotus Notes, Yahoo Mail, hell Visio might even work.

You wouldn't go snow climbing w/o axe or crampons would you? You bring em' to prevent your trip report from [possibly] not getting typed and told!
You wouldn't go skiing without gloves would you? You bring em' cause having no fingers really puts a damper on the social/dating scene!
You wouldn't go kill whatever bug had gotton up your girffriend/wife's ass without putting on a condom first, would you? You would...ah, never mind.
You wouldn't type up a 90 page dissertation or medical review on the latest anti-rejection methods for implant devices without saving your work, would you?
Saving something as piddly but subjectively as important as a trip report IS NO DIFFERENT. Take some responsibility that you 'gawfed' and just save it next time.
