Anyone owning a Sony DSC HX9V ?

Postby visentin » Tue Oct 18, 2011 12:04 pm

Cause I just bought one ! The HP 945 is corpus mortem since yesterday as it only takes pink photos...
I'd be curious to hear about HX9V owners.

I bought one about 10 weeks ago. Firstly there are many manual settings and then auto- settings, the first week I took quite a few lousy photos. It took awhile to get to know the various settings but then I started getting some nice photos ( I still have more to learn). Then my camera took a fall and the LCD screen is broken so I can't see what I'm shooting but the camera still works fine. It will cost $200 for new screen and install for a $350 camera :( But from all the reviews and research I did and after I fully learn the camera, it should take wonderful photos and even full HD video. I have more photos to download from my Banff trip (still trying to figure out peak names) but there are some on my profile page, they turned out pretty nice for guessing where to point and trying to use the zoom with out the LCD screen. My "most recent" 30 photos are with the Sony. The one thing I don't like is no view finder.

Thanks ! Sorry to hear about the screen accident... what do you call view finder ? Have you tried some photos in the HDR mode ? That's one of my main motivations for this product.

I haven't tried the video yet, as soon as it's fixed I will. A viewfinder is nice if there is a lot of sun, with just the LCD screen the sun makes it hard to see what you are shooting at times....... Viewfinder: Image

Yes I agree, once all the settings are figured out and along with Full HD video, it will take fantastic photos. Pass any helpful hints on to me and I'll do the same for you. Happy shooting!

Some HDR attempts...
Have you ever tried that mode Marmaduke ? Having the LCD screen out of order might be a bit of an obstacle however for choosing the option.
