Tahoe ice conditions

by ElGreco » Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:43 pm

Does anyone have any intel on Tahoe ice climbing conditions after the last set of storms and recent warm weather?

Thanks!

I was at Sunny falls this last weekend and it was VERY wet with water running over and behind the ice. The south facing ice in Eagle Canyon was starting to set up but it was thin and Very drippy as well. Approach was ok with snowshoes, Eagle Lake was crossable in the morning but sketchy by the afternoon. Eagle creek was full and flowing, it was difficult to find a place to cross without getting too wet. Unless the night time temps start to drop I would say the Eagle Lake area is a no go for now.
