Well we finally had a decent storm. About 4 inches of snow immediately followed by a few hours of both snow and freezing rain/ice pellets then maybe 4-6 hours of just ice...

I love the rain and snow, but ice is always dreadful. Did you lose power?

No we didn't surprisingly. But some areas may have, I haven't heard. The roads were treacherous all day. But the weatherman actually got it right so people had some warning that it was coming and they closed schools and stuff before it even started.

They put them on the plows and sanders sometimes. I stayed home so didn't notice.

An interesting factoid from the local rag:

How is the snowpack in the Colorado River Basin? It has not been a great snow season, but conditions haven’t been nearly as dry as they have been in California. The snowpack in Colorado and Utah, as of Monday, averaged 52 to 84 percent of normal. California’s average was 38 percent of normal.

Currently 60F and bright sunshine outside my office window. Gotta admit I'm loving it. Though I do fear for the effect of the absymal snowpack on western fire danger come this summer. Sigh.

Got up to 70F in central Arizona today. The perfect time to plant trees; think I'll go check out the local nursery tomorrow ..

Gotta admit ... trees are pretty cool. And, sometimes they blow me away ... especially when the wind is blowing them.

Another nice tune, icarreau!

I love hearing the wind in a tall canopy of jeffrey pines while the ground remains still, sounding like a rushing stream.

Planted a nice sycamore today, my last of this year's tree planting project. Feels good looking over all the work. Next will be a couple of years with weekly waterings until the roots get established. Got to keep an eye on the gophers, too.

Got up to 65 today, a real beauty of a day!

Another day of school closure this morning. Another 4 inches of snow and still coming down. Which meant I could sleep in (yay) but also unfortunately means I have to shovel out almost 10 apartment buildings now because it's my job to take care of them (boo on employment). Time to grab some long johns!

Apparently all I had to do was complain on summitpost that there was no snow here. It's still snowing out there. Shoveled like 5 inches 4 hours ago. There's probably at another 2 1/2-3 out there again. There prediction of 1 inch seems to have been incorrect.

Lucky! My son, and I, would love it if there were more snow days here in the Pacific NW. Brew up some tea, and get into that shovelin'!

When I cocked my leg over my bike crossbar this morning it was, with wind chill -21. Nice and crisp - just noticed though, that my chain and bottom bracket (on my bike) were getting stiff.
