Elbrus 2012

by TeamExpe » Fri Nov 18, 2011 5:05 pm

Hi!
Somebody has information about the opening of the south side of Elbrus for 2012?
Is there a website where we can have news about this?
Thanks

I've been trying to update the Elbrus page using the forum below:

Apparently the south side just opened up again on Oct 29. Of course that could easily change by next summer.

We are just about to rebook our trip from last year. Our flights are booked. I have an email out to Pilgrim Tours to get the ball rolling on the permits.

The region is open and busy with skiers right now. Everything appears to be calm and stable. (Knock on wood.)

Anyone else going this Spring/Summer?

AAARGH!!! :o :(

I have a ticket booked arriving Moscow on May 4. I was going to book the final leg to Min Vod later today. Now I guess I'll wait a bit to see if the authorities close down the area again.

Has anyone here skied the north slopes of Elbrus? Alternatively, does anyone know of a local contact that could accurately report on snow / crevasse conditions?
