Things went well until: She gets that "female thing", doesn't understand having to make it to the next campsite, I supposedly ignored her...flirtings on Mt Trudee, we have to walk uphill, some bugs bite and on and on. She cried on a giant rock in the middle of the river and I'm not kidding. We've since moved on Just sayin.

You might consider breaking her in first on a short overnight trip some place where she won't have to deal with a six hour drive and an altitude headache, like the Ventana wilderness, or the Ohlone Wildeness, or Skyline to Sea trail, or Pt. Reyes, or Coe Park, or even Marin Headlands (I've spent the night at Hawk Camp and had nobody else there, even on a weekend, though odds of solitude are better if you go mid week). If you want high mountain scenery but lower altitude you might also consider the Trinity Alps. There are a number of spectacular trails through there and it's less popular than the Sierra. The Lassen backcountry could be another relatively quiet and lower altitude (but still beautiful) option.
