Anyone heard any news on SP member Don Bowie's current attempt on Annapurna North Face? Read the posts about the avalanches on ExplorersWeb, they're over a week old. No recent news on donbowie.com (his old site was: calpinist.com), either.

I hope that no news is good news!

Anna NF is one dangerous route... makes Herzog & Lachenal's '50 ascent all the more remarkable! Enjoyed Viestur's take too: 1st time there, NO WAY. Tried South Anna ascent via East Ridge, NO WAY. Finally succeeded on NF regular route, RUSHED through the "gauntlet" under the threatening seracs of the sickle glacier.

Annapurna... ANY route... "pucker factor" = MAX.

My sense is that our esteemed fellow SP'er Karrar Haidri is more in touch with Karakorum happenings - he is Pakistani, after all! I always appreciate his dedication and thoroughness when publishing his excellent Himalayan wrap-ups, but I think his info is quicker from his native area - the majestic Kakarorum Range.

I pray that the goddess Annapurna has been propitious to Don Bowie, and that we will hear good news of Don in the near future. Don's photos here on SP from his Annapurna South Face attempt are among my favorite pics on this GREAT site...

Full of hope,

Big Lew

And thank you both, Diego and Cy, for answering my original post/question.

I'm sure we all share best wishes for Don...

Peace,

Karrar answered that: "thanks DIEGO for your message, I will check and let you know".
