I just saw this on the news and almost started to freak out because they wouldn't say the rangers name. Finally they said who it was, and it wasn't my friend Chris, but it was a friend of his, Nick Hall. Chris has been a ranger on Rainier for two seasons now, Nick was on his fourth. This just sucks.

It's not fair a person who tries to save others' lives dies. Rangers on Rainier, as on other mountains, are very cool people. I hate news like this. I don't even know what to say anymore.

Awful news. My condolences to his family. Having been on the mountain just last week it gives me great pause.

Update news story from Rainier. My sympathy goes to Nick Hall's family. I have much respect and appreciation for the climbing Rangers work and dedication to help climbers.

Very nice tribute to Nick from his co-workers here. May he RIP.
