I think you guys in Arizona need to stop carrying picinic baskets around with you. That's what the bears really want, if Saturday morning cartoons are at all accurate.

The details of each attack neglect to mention if there were food or other scented items in the tent or very close by, when the attacks occurred. These are popular car-camp locations where people bring everything from home it seems.

Two bears were recently tracked and killed, confirmed via DNA they were in on the attacks. There may be a third bear.

Hope I'm not preaching to the Choir, but seriously ... we CAN follow a few simple steps to be more Bear Aware ..

"Keep a clean camp. Store food items and trash away from your tent or sleeping area.

Wash up before going to bed to eliminate odors.

In residential areas in bear country, keep food waste in a secure location such as a garage, shed or bear-proof container.

Residents should put trash out the morning of collection (never the night before) and clean your trash container regularly.

Hang bird feeders at least 10 feet above ground and away from structures. Use a tray to catch spills. Remove bird feeders if a bear is in the area."
