Worked out a deal where our weather is coming your way and your weather is coming our way. Coming out next week to make sure the transition goes well and looking forward to the change!!!

Sure wish I was planning something... I can't climb anything 'real' for another 4-5 weeks, on paternity sabbatical.

I will be taking my oldest up Saddle Mtn tomorrow morning... The wife will allow this short, easy "trail hike." Starving for adventure, I'm gonna take a super thin rack and see if we can find some climbable rock on the thing.
where am i going... and why am i in this handbasket?

We did SEWS South Arete , snow from Parking lot to col. One team from AAI following, very friendly bunch. Met Two going for Liberty Bell, Bekey Route. We saw one of them take a nasty looking tumble coming down from Bell/Concord notch at the end of the day as we left our route. We gasp, thinking he was completely out of control, but he managed to stop between snow and rock. We were able to yell if ok. We saw a little movement, partner yelled back ok. So we left. Met a team of three in Marblemount Caboose (great chicken burger) that just came out of Picketts of 9 days. I guess the climbing season is on...Image

Saddle Mountain was hella weak... the trail was grated and even hand-railed in the few interesting spots, and the summit area is completely hand-railed in. I packed a FULL rack and a bunch of other useless crap, just to add some weight to my pack, and I still didn't break a sweat.

But... It was just right for Ethan. He'd never "summitted" anything before, and the bit of water and food and rain gear I put in his pack seemed to be just enough to make the hike hard, but not too hard for him. He loved it... which was enough to make a totally gay hike an awesome trip, for me.

Some of the 50-odd people on the summit looked like they shat themselves when I told Ethan to hop over the guard rail and eat our lunch on the actual high-point. They'd probably report me to CPS if they saw what we do at the crag.

Anyone know what the conditions are up in the southern Olympics? Looking for a good up and back day trip maybe Brothers, Washington or Elinor (did Grey Wolf, Skokomish, and Buckhorn last fall).

Wished I'd had something planned, between being back in school and not working, haven't been able to set anything up yet. Shooting for an Adams trip first weekend of August.
