Skeeters in Medicine Bows - early August

by Arthur Digbee » Tue Jul 10, 2012 2:13 pm

How bad are the mosquitoes typically in Snowy Range and the rest of Medicine Bow NF in early August?

Fear: snowfield melt make them very bad, like the Winds.
Hope: strong winds blow them away.

Anybody know?

Same question for Bighorns if you happen to know. Thanks.

Usually they are still around, but this year has been dry, so I would expect fewer than normal. We were just in the Sierra Madre just to the west and there are deinately fewer mosquitoes than normal.

We'll also be in the Snowy Range early August.

Typically they can be bad down by the lakes, but once you are on the ridges there are none.
