Reports are just starting to come through of a major avalanche on Mont Maudit this morning at around 5.30. Party of over twenty hit by a major slide. Six reported dead, eight injured and early reports suggested two might still be missing.

Bad news. It has, apparently been pretty warm out there of late.

Guardian says that unconfirmed reports include 3 Britons too.
