According to Wikipedia poland, the word could be apparented to latin (more accurately Balkan Romanian (some Vlach dialect) "dormitorium" which would mean sleeping mountains.
There are similarly named mountains such as Visitor (visător, "dreaming") and Cipitor (aţipitor, "sleeping") across former Yugoslavia.
Other sources mention celtic roots that would mean "river that flows from mountains"
