I am planning one last trip before shutting down for the winter. I am planning Mt. Langley on Oct. 22. What can I expect in terms of Snow? Crampons required? Thanks.

I didn't know robots hiked mountains.

Only way to know is to check the weather as it occurs. Too far out to tell, but probably will need nothing at all for Langley. It's so far south and so dry, only the largest storms produce much serious accumulation, and October is too early for that.

If there is an early season storm then there could be snow. If not then not.

Last year in early October there was an early storm (and then nothing for a long time). I went to Cottonwood Lakes a few days after the storm and there was a fair amount of snow, nothing unmanageable. At that time of year, if it has snowed and then cleared up, it's pretty warm and I would expect the snow to be soft. If this happens you would probably benefit more from snowshoes (or skis) than crampons.

It can snow heavily in October, it did so as recently as 2009, not to mention the fact it also snowed significantly in 2010 and 2011. You'll probably be fine without crampons, but don't necessarily count on it.
