^^^ Good question! Either way, cougars are fleeing from depressed areas like Reno, and are smart enough to avoid similar areas in California.

I'm not sure if I would report an encounter. Trouble can come from being too free with information.

I figure folks around my parts already know about them, but I'll do my part by educating the curious lurkers of summitpost.

^^^No, no, Lcarreau, this thread has always been about mountain lions! Besides, I'm keeping the faith here in California! :wink:

We have lots of mountain lions around here and people can afford expensive gas, yet mysteriously, there are lots of efficient vehicles, and cyclists, but no mountain lion attacks. I attribute it to diversity and that cool cat in the white house having lots of support here. It's all connected. :wink:

Besides, I'm rooting against the Reds and the big cats from Detroit right now. The fearless elephants and the slippery seals are still alive!
