Hi, I'm planning flying to San Diego the last weekend of October to take advantage of cheap Delta air tickets. I plan on climbing Mt. Boundary on Oct 27th. Anyone interested to join me please let me know.

I booked tickets flying into San Diego on Friday the 26th, a hotel room in Bishop, CA for the night and climbing on the 27th, Saturday. If you are in the area and would like to join let me know.

The drive from San Diego to Bishop is about 7 hours, while it is only 4 hours from Las Vegas or Reno to Bishop.

Which route are you taking? The road to Queen Mine wasn't so great at the end of July this year. I've been up there in a car before, but struggled a bit in a small 2WD SUV this time. Also, it's supposed to snow up there most of next week. You may want to scan the rental lot for something with AWD like a Jeep Compass, and/or consider going up Trail Canyon instead.

thank you highland villager, wasn't sure about which trailhead and by looking at your description I may just go up trail canyon, I'll be soloing so the safer the better. I'll get a Jeep from the rental lot.

Got about 6 inches up there this morning and evening. Hard to say what it'll be like by that time but you'll want some warm clothing for sure.

Just a little snow to contend with yesterday, but not too much. Crampons and axe were not needed, but looks like there's another storm blowing in next week...

McCannster, how's the driving on Queen Mine Trail, debating if I should drive up there or drive around the mtn and take Trail Canyon (supposed to be easy to drive to the trail head)

The road up to Queen Mine is pretty good for the most part, but there are a couple spots where a low clearance car might encounter some problems, but only clearance problems. If you have a car with decent clearance, it'll do fine. You definitely want a more rugged, higher clearance 4WD vehicle if you want to drive up to the saddle, to eliminate all the road walking. Snow could also be an issue higher on the road by then.

The road up to Trail Canyon I do remember being a lot mellower, but that was a few years ago.
