As the title says, what is the best way to find mountaineering/climbing(/...) guides?

I don't want to Google 1 million combinations. Isn't there like a central database of this stuff somewhere?

I've found that Google works. You can also wait until they spam SP... they're from all over and eventually one will hit the site for the area you're looking for.

I focused on a company that guides where I want to go. Then I met the guides and learned who I liked to climb with.

Hey ScottyP,
Long time no hear. Hey, incidentally ran into one of your Vinson climbing team mates in the Santiago airport last December. She was pretty easy to spot waiting for her plane (a Brit wearing yellow Koflachs). Hah! Small world. What's next? The Big E? The "little" E? Or Carstensz Pyramid?

Time to resurrect the joke?

You're at a party. How do you know which guy/gal is the mountain guide?

Oh, don't worry. They'll let you know.

Similar joke:

You're at a party. How do you know which guy/gal is the one who climbs without a mountain guide?

Oh, don't worry. They'll let you know.
