Always these mobile toys making web work difficult. So is Firefox mobile the name of the phone? Or are you using FireFox on the mobile phone? And if it is FireFox on the mobile phone, what brand?

Can you try the following steps on your iPad?:
Code: Select all
Go to:
Settings > safari > accept cookies > always
Double click the home button > scroll over to find safari > hold down on safari > delete it > restart safari

And let me know if you still can't log in?

Well done! Cookies were already set to Always but deleting Safari seemed to do the trick. It is working now. Thanks!

A member found a small bug... it seems that there is no delete option for page owners to delete the additions and corrections that appear on the main page above the images section. The owners can still delete them by clicking on the link to access them on the separate page, however. But some folks will likely not be aware of that. Just need to add the delete option for the page owners when viewing the comments on the main page. Have to use a regular member account to test it.

Can you contact the member who reported it and see if it is fixed now. I think it should be, but I don't want to have to find a regular member account to test with.

I tested it. Fixed!

The Mount Shasta page has four vertical medium sized images on it. But two show up as being 500 pixels wide (the old size) and two as being 500 tall (the smaller new size).

Why different?

Looks like someone cleaned up the Shasta mess before I could. Well looks like the problems solved now.

No owner and no page history:

http://www.summitpost.org/east-ridge/158754

I'm guessing that it was a previously deleted page, but has someone reappeared? Might be a bug in the system that is causing deleted pages to come back?

PS, there is already a newer page for the same route, which is why I'm guessing that the above was previously deleted.

Privileges section shows Dow as owner. This is why it's on his profile page even though his name isn't on the main page. I've seen this happen before, though only very infrequently. It usually seems to involve a member attempting to transfer a page before leaving the site. He might have listed Dow as an editor or admin, had his profile deleted, and then the system converted Dow to the owner on that one section.

I've only seen this two or three times before. It's probably best just to delete the page.

I've just adopted and reworked the Similaun Normal Route page, but somehow the old Location appears instead of what I entered: the page shows

Location: Tyrol (Ötztal)/South-Tyrol (Alto Adige), Austria/Italy, Europe

I wanted to remove the " (Ötztal)" bit, but I can't because it does not show up in any of the fields when I'm editing the page. So, when editing, I filled the Province field, which was empty before, to Tyrol/South Tyrol. But that has no effect when viewing the page.

Then, when I looked at a list of routes, the location is different once more, as it now looks like this:

Location: Tyrol (Ötztal)/South-Tyrol (Alto Adige), Tyrol/South Tyrol, Austria, Italy, Europe

In other words, I see both the old location ánd the new one I entered when editing the page!
Perhaps it's unrelated, but there is an inconsistency with the countries as well: while the two countries are separated by a '/' on the route page itself, here they are separated by a ','. Why the inconsistency?

I'm guessing there could be two fields in the database for the location: an old one that can't be edited but is always displayed anyway, on the page as well as in any lists, and a new one that is only displayed on the page when the old one is not filled, yet always displayed directly after the old field on any lists.

Good luck figuring this one out.
Cheers, Rob

Yikes, I did quite a few tests on that page and could not figure it out. :( Thanks for reporting this, I'll log it. Right now Matt's working on a new feature for pages which will be a nice little addition.

Montana Matt wrote:No idea what the cause of your problem is Rob, but my guess is that the location data was input with the previous SPv1 system. As such, the location specified doesn't match anything in the selectable list of countries. I can access the database and wipe out the location data and you can refill it. I could try to modify the record as well, but that may cause more problems. Probably easiest just to delete the location information and start over. Let me know if you'd like me to do that.

Yes, please go ahead and delete the old location data.

I've adopted a couple more old pages that probably have the same problem, so if you could delete the old location data there as well, that would be great. Here they are:

Yep, it looks better now.

I still see two minor inconsistencies, but they have got nothing to do with old fields, as I see the same behavior in relatively new pages:

1. When I'm editing a route or mountain page and use a ',' in the Province field, after submitting it, I see a '/' instead. Yet, when looking at a list of pages, the ',' shows up again!

2. When selecting more than one country in a route or mountain page, they show up separated by a '/' when viewing the page itself, but by a ',' when looking at a list of pages.

As I said, minor stuff.

Cheers, Rob

Just now have been able to get signed in again. This happened about 3 weeks ago too. I use bing explorer... I think. Chrome has installed on my computer somehow. When go to summitpost from my "favorites" in Bing or is it internet explorer... I get my ugly profile facepage, but not a sign in page. Today I just tried the other...like I said I think it is Chrome and went to summitpost then sign in button and here I am. this is good, but I don't really know what I am doing or why things have changed for me. Any help appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you were using internet explorer. Perhaps with Bing as your homepage (they are both owned by Microsoft). I did a search and couldn't find a "bing explorer".

Probably when you installed some other program it came with it. Companies pay other companies to include "extras" to promote their brand. Indeed sneaky.

It's internet explorer. You went from the site bing to summitpost. I am also assuming your favorite link has the url for your profile page rather than the homepage of SummitPost. For the login, either click the link at the top or view this link. Be sure to check "Keep me logged in all the time" so that you don't have to login every time.

Do yourself a favor and don't use internet explorer. You will save time, it will be easier to work with, less errors, better page styling, and the list goes on. Personally I favor FireFox. But Google Chrome is pretty good too. So in the future, could you describe what it is your having an issue with? For example "I cannot find the login page" or "It won't remember me when logging in" or "It won't even login".

I don't see how that has any relevance to this thread. I don't have a thing to do with that site. If your asking me, either start a thread in off route or contact me in private.
